About Katto
Katto, founded by Josh and Thomas in 2018, was born out of a miserable period in Josh’s life when he was diagnosed with an acute anxiety disorder. Despite trying various methods to cope, Josh found solace in cooking, which he found absorbing and meditative. He then decided to buy all the kitchenware he could find, including beautiful knives, sturdy chopping boards, and other items with strong sustainability credentials.
Katto was born after pitching the idea to Thomas over a disappointing lasagne. The company believes that people today want to own fewer, better things, which last, are proud to own, and make their days and dinners better. They want to make these things the right way, using the best materials, using human hands, and having minimal environmental impact. They also want their products to be affordable for those earning less than a billion pounds.
Katto started with knives and is now expanding to include the rest of the kitchen cabinet. The company aims to create products that are not only beautiful but also durable and affordable for those who earn less than that billion pounds.
